Terms of service
Effective date: .
These are the short, plain terms for buying and using Superset Files, the Mac app sold at supersetfiles.com. The full legal text is in the License (EULA), the Refund policy and the Privacy policy. Where this page and those documents differ, those documents govern.
Who you are dealing with
- Superset Files is made and licensed by Elena Maher, an independent developer (the licensor).
- Purchases are sold by Freemius, our merchant of record. Freemius is the seller on your receipt, takes the payment, and collects and remits sales tax and VAT. Your purchase is also subject to Freemius's own terms and policies.
What you can use for free
- A 14-day trial of the full app. No account, no card.
- After the trial, if you don't buy, the app keeps working in a free read-only mode: you can open, read and search your files. Editing, opening new split panes, changing themes, printing and export need a license. Details are in Section 2 of the EULA.
What a purchase gets you
- A one-time, perpetual personal license for the major version you buy, for the official signed builds, on a limited number of Macs you own or control (EULA Section 3).
- Updates within that major version. A future major version may be sold separately; what you bought keeps working.
- Support by email at support@supersetfiles.com.
Superset Files is closed-source software. The license doesn't allow sharing, reselling or redistributing the app, its installers or your license key (EULA Section 4).
Refunds
Because the trial lets you try everything first, sales are final, except where consumer law gives you a right that can't be waived, such as withdrawal rights in the EU and UK or the guarantees of the Australian Consumer Law. License-key and activation problems are handled as support. The Refund policy has the details.
Your files and your data
The app works on the folders you open and doesn't send your files or their contents to us. It goes online to check for updates, to activate your license and re-check it about once a week after you buy, and, only if you turn it on, to send crash reports. The website counts page views with GoatCounter, without cookies. The Privacy policy has the details.
No warranty
The app is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid in the 12 months before a claim (EULA Sections 8 and 9). Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version in effect when you bought applies to that purchase.
